Main experience

Extensive experience in administrative positions with Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) One of the largest oil corporations in the world.

Positions include:

Corporate Planning Manager: responsible for the petrochemical long term plan. Also economic evaluation of projects, presentation to the Board and possible investor in Joint Ventures.

Corporate Controller: for Pequiven the Petrochemical branch. Responsibilities included Budget, Accounting and Biddings. Several times I was appointed to be member of major contract negotiations. Also I was appointed as member of the board in some of the Joint Venture companies

Divisional Finance Manager (Exploration & Production Division): I leader an organization of almost 200 employees responsible for Accounting, Treasury, Budget, Financial Systems Maintenance, Project control, Contracts and Biddings

Divisional Controller (Exploration & Production): I leader a team of 15 professionals responsible for contract negotiation, project control, budget, biddings expenses coding, project timesheet, ensuring that invoice authorizations take place in accordance with procedures, cash requirements, managing and reconciling bank accounts monthly, cash flow report, review invoices for approval before submission.

Supervisor of Financial Evaluations (Exploration & Production): leading 3 teams, two of them working on biddings and contract negotiations and control and one responsible for project evaluations

Financial Analyst for Economic Evaluations (Exploration & Production): responsible for economical analysis of projects I leader a team consisting of one Petroleum Engineer and two economist

As Member of the Planning Department I was responsible for the development of the performance indexes, their monthly preparation with analysis and presentation to the board. I was also responsible for the long term plan with financial indexes and the presentation of the plan and projects to possible partners in joint ventures.

During my career with PDVSA I participated in multiple task forces with personnel from different areas to find solution to specific problems or the identification of bottlenecks presenting economic ways to solve them.

During the development of the new financial systems with Maraven S.A. (PDVSA subsidiary) I was responsible for the creation of the Cost and Accounting System and later I was appointed as Project Mgr for the implementation. We used the MSA Millenium System. Later, in 1995, with Pequiven (PDVSA subsidiary) I was functionally involved in the implementation of the SAP system.

Strong experience as end user of Office applications like Word, Excel and Power Point. Programming experience with FORTRAN, BASIC and MASTER, using them for the development of tools for Economic Evaluations, Financial Analysis and Planning. Hobbies include Maya's History and sailing; I have published one book titled "The Mayan Calendar", two Mayan almanacs and some intra-company papers related with financial matters specially Economic Evaluations and software developed for this analysis.

While living in Venezuela I was member of the Sporting Sailors Association of Venezuela and also a Volunteer Officer with the Auxiliary Venezuelan Coast Guards.

I have been involved in several volunteer programs related with Education, Culture and Charity projects in Venezuela.
